Tampa Underground rap artist Chicoken

1.Where did your music career begin?
It all began with poetry as far as my writing process goes. But what really inspired me to do music is my father’s side of the family. I have a cousin that raps and my dad is actually a pretty good singer who played lots of different music as I was growing up.

2. How long have you been doing music?
I officially started writing my own songs in high school (9th grade year) but never did any recording until I was about 18-19 and the first song I recorded was this song called “I’m what it is” which is currently lost to the world.

3. Since the beginning of your music career all the way up until now what would you say are some of your biggest accomplishments?
My biggest accomplishment thus far would be the release of my first Mixtape which came out September 1, 2013. It's called “Keep Inspiring Notorious Gods” (K.I.N.G.)

4. What are some obstacles that have come up on your music journey and how did you overcome them?
Me being a homosexual artist whom I see in today's world may be a constant struggle but overcoming that is not a problem I Keep God first pay my homage and respect the game

5. Name an artist that in the music industry like yourself that inspires you and motivates you in your music career?
This question could have the longest answer because I pull inspiration from all artist singers included. To name a few ; Jay Z, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar (He is Dope), Ciara, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Nas, J. Cole (one of my very favs), DMX and many more.

6. When it comes time for music how does your family feel about it, are they very supportive of it?
My dad is very supportive and so is my mom but she doesn't say much.

7. What are your long term goals as a music Artist?
To be able to get a record but most of all being able to brand myself as well and have longevity within my career.

8. What are some tactics you have when it comes to leading you to accomplish your long term goal as an artist?
Hard work, hard work, barely any sleep and more Hard Work

9. At this current moment what is it that you have going on in your music career?
I have a couple of performances and interviews that are being talked about won’t say too much just yet and I'm also making plans for another Mixtape to drop hopefully round my bday but we will see how that goes. I want it to be right and not rushed. I'm also hoping to do a video for at least one song off of K.I.N.G...

10. What advice would you give to any artist whose trying to go in the same direction as yourself?
Be yourself, do what feels right, keep working hard, keep challenging and pushing yourself and most importantly take all feedback as criticism to better yourself and your works and pray, pray, pray Because God makes it all possible.

11. As everyone knows you are a rapper and a very good one at that; however it’s also been told that you know how to sing is this true?
(Smirking) I do a little something nothing major though but I know how to do a lot I Rap, Sing and dance.

12. Will we ever get to hear your singing voice?
Yes you will soon and I actually sung a little bit on my version of Drakes "Marvin's Room" which I actually titled "Kens Feelings" but u will get to hear more of my singing voice as well as see some dancing from me.
